PP Pleated Filter Cartridge

Product ID: pp-pleated-filter-cartridge|Polypropylene

Microporous pleated filter element made of high-efficiency nanometer ultra-fine polypropylene (PP) fiber. The filter material has uniform openings, which can maintain low pressure difference and stable flow for a long time. The product has passed multiple strict tests such as non-toxic, endotoxin and USP oxidizability, and complies with FDA and RoHS regulations. The entire range is produced in Class 1,000 or 10,000 clean rooms to ensure no fiber release. Providing the most complete filtration precision from 0.1μm to 100μm, it is the cost-effective first choice for cleaning cycles, food and beverage and ultrapure water processes.

Ø130 and Ø208 are the high-flow sizes for high-generation display processes; a single cartridge handles over 300 L/min.

Note: actual compatibility and service life depend on chemical concentration, temperature, flow, differential pressure, upstream contamination load and housing design. Validate under your real process conditions.

Where it fits

The PP pleated cartridge is the most general-purpose stage in a filtration train: ultrapure water systems, food and beverage, cleaning loops and general industrial process filtration all use it. Its most common role is protecting a downstream sterilising-grade or nanometre membrane element — put the inexpensive consumable in front to take the load, and the expensive final filter lasts far longer.

Key characteristics

The media is multi-layer graded-pore polypropylene microfibre, densifying from outside in and thermally bonded throughout with no binder. The point of a gradient is that different particle sizes come to rest at different depths in the media instead of all piling onto the surface — which is where the 2–4 times service life and dirt-holding capacity over a single-layer pleated cartridge comes from.

Diameters run from Ø68 up to Ø208, with Ø130 and Ø208 being the high-flow sizes for high-generation display processes, each handling over 300 L/min. Replacing several parallel small cartridges with one large-diameter element shrinks the housing and cuts the number of sealing faces.

Choosing between options

Be clear first about pre-filter versus final filter roles:

CartridgeMediaRating rangeRole
PP pleated (this)Graded-pore PP microfibre0.1 – 10 µmGeneral pre- and process filtration, lowest cost
Glass fibre pleatedResin-bonded glass fibre depth0.2 – 10 µmDedicated pre-filter for colloids and lipids
PES pleatedAsymmetric polyethersulfone membrane0.05 – 5 µmFinal sterilising and fine filtration

Operation & change-out

Naturally hydrophilic, so no alcohol pre-wetting is needed: flush forward with process liquid or purified water and vent trapped air. Change out when ΔP reaches 3–5 times the clean initial value or 0.24 MPa (35 psi), whichever comes first.

i
Maximum forward ΔP is 5.2 bar for Ø68 and 4.2 bar for Ø83 and larger. The reverse ratings are markedly lower (2.1 / 1.7 bar), so any system where back-flow is possible must be designed against the reverse figure as well.
Why does the PP pleated cartridge keep pressure drop low?
It is made from ultrafine polypropylene fibers with uniform pore openings, giving consistent flow resistance so pressure drop stays low and flow steady over time. Stable pressure drop means more predictable change-out intervals and lower energy use in continuous processes.
Which safety and cleanliness tests does it pass?
It passes non-toxic, endotoxin and USP oxidizables testing and complies with FDA and RoHS. Produced in Class 1,000 or 10,000 cleanrooms with no fiber release, it suits food, beverage and ultrapure water processes with strict material-safety requirements.
How do I choose the micron rating?
The series offers the widest range, 0.1μm to 100μm. Coarser grades suit high-flow pre-filtration and rinse loops; finer grades suit UPW and final filtration. Stage the ratings by downstream requirements and solids load to balance flow and service life.
