Where it fits

PVDF pleated cartridges are used in chemical processing, ultrapure water and pharmaceutical production — particularly where acid, alkali or solvent attack and high cleanliness requirements arrive together. What defines the product is not any single number but a construction decision: membrane, support, cage, core and end caps are all the same fluoropolymer family.

Key characteristics

The all-PVDF build is sealed by high-temperature thermal welding, with no adhesives and no metal parts. The benefit is that the flow path contains no dissimilar-material interface: you do not end up with an intact membrane inside dissolved hardware, and there is no adhesive left as an extractables source.

The 120 °C ceiling is the highest of the polymer membrane cartridges in this general pleated family. Wettability is selectable: the hydrophilic configuration filters high-surface-tension reagents directly, while the hydrophobic one suits gas duty or applications that need water repellency. Lengths are available up to 70 inches.

Choosing between options

Three chemically resistant options, decided on temperature and rating:

CartridgeHardwareMax tempRating range
PVDF pleated (this)All-PVDF120 °C0.1 – 1 µm
Hydrophilic PTFE pleatedPP0.05 – 10 µm
PP pleatedPP (316L on some sizes)0.1 – 10 µm

Operation & change-out

The hydrophilic configuration needs no pre-wetting. For aqueous service on the hydrophobic configuration, pre-wet with IPA and then displace with purified water. Cartridges ship dry or DI-water pre-wetted. Change out when ΔP reaches 3–5 times the clean initial value or 0.24 MPa (35 psi).

i
Rated to 5.2 bar at 25 °C, falling to 1.9 bar at 120 °C. Design hot service against the elevated-temperature rating rather than extrapolating from the ambient figure.
Which chemicals can the PVDF cartridge handle?
PVDF offers excellent chemical compatibility and tolerates many acids, bases and solvents, making it suited to harsh chemical environments. Before use, verify compatibility against your specific chemistry, concentration and temperature to ensure stable long-term performance.
What ratings and lengths are offered?
The series provides ratings from 0.1μm to 1μm and lengths up to 70 inches. Longer elements add filtration area, lower pressure drop and extend service life, which helps high-flow chemical or ultrapure water systems.
Do the materials meet pharma cleanliness requirements?
All plastic components meet FDA 21 CFR and EU RoHS, and the cartridges are produced in Class 1,000 or 10,000 cleanrooms with no fiber release, suiting pharmaceutical processing, UPW and high-purity chemical applications.
